About Salomé Grouard
Salomé is a French journalist and writer based in Hong Kong.
Her work looks at the relationship between gender, culture, society, and politics.
Salomé’s work lives at the intersection of storytelling and social impact. She’s been published in CNN, Vice News, South China Morning Post, Slate, Monocle, Tatler Asia, Hong Kong Free Press, Mixmag, Consequence of Sound, Time Out, Libération, L’Express, Les Inrockuptibles, and more.
She provided on-the-ground coverage of pivotal events like Hong Kong’s Covid-19 pandemic, the Tai Po fire tragedy, and social movements shaping Asia. She interviewed industry leaders, experts, and trendsetters such as Dr. Jane Goodall, artists Jorja Smith, Doja Cat, and Awich, among others.
These days, she’s focusing on uncovering impactful stories while traveling across Asia.
She is also part of the 2026 TEDxHongKong committee.
From February 2023 to May 2025, she served as Digital Editor and Front & Female Lead at Tatler Hong Kong, where she managed website editorial content while covering gender equality, women’s empowerment, pop culture, music, and health.
Previously at the South China Morning Post, from October 2020 to February 2023, she was Production Editor for Digital and Lead of the Lunar Project. Under her leadership, subscriptions tripled, and she expanded LGBTQIA+ coverage while regularly contributing articles and op-eds. Subsequently, the newsletter was awarded the Best Newsletter award in 2023 at the WAN-IFRA’s Digital Media Awards Asia for its excellence in coverage and impact.
